Davis AYSO Commissioner's End of Fall Season Notes

First of all the entire board of directors of Davis AYSO want to thank everyone who played, coached, refereed, DCA’d or volunteered this fall soccer season. Without you we would not have had a very successful season. We also hope everyone had a safe, healthy, and prosperous holiday season and will have a happy new year.

This is the last communication you will receive for the fall season. Soon we will start our Select Season and Spring registration is just around the corner.

FALL SURVEY

We would be very appreciative if you could take a few minutes and fill out a short survey on the fall season. It is meant for both players and parents.

The link to the survey is: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MBRJJQR

LIGHTNING and THUNDER Policy

During the 2nd week of the season we had lightning and thunder affect our games. It was the first time in my family’s soccer days that we had thunderstorms. Some of us knew what to do and some did not. This is just an informational item to remember for the future. If you hear thunder or see lightning games are to be suspended for 30 minutes. NO ifs ands or buts. Do not stay on the field or near goals or trees or bikes. Everyone should be in a safe structure or in their cars. If thunder or lightning occurs anywhere within the 30 minutes the time starts over. The game being delayed ends at its normal completion time and will not delay the next scheduled game.

Spring Registration

Walk in Spring Registration dates are January 27, 30, and February 3, 2010. Details still need to be determined and will be posted on our website, in the Davis Enterprise, and flyers will be distributed to schools.

Fall Registration

Next fall we will no longer be using our medical release forms. We will be standardizing with National AYSO guidelines. The new medical release form will be a second copy of the pre registration form required for registration. When you register your child in EAYSO you will print and sign 2 copies in fresh ink (No copies). The first one will be turned in at registration. The second one will be given to your player’s coach.

Area, Section, and State Championship Tournaments

Our region had 4 teams win their division in this falls area tournament and move on to the Section 2 tournament in Foster City. They played their counterparts from California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada. Those teams were:

U12 Boys – West 1 coached by Bob Blakewell and Jeanine Hill U12 Girls - South 2 coached by Matt Moore and Brian Kijanka U14 Boys - NW 1 coached by Peter Hernes and Leo Rainer U14 Girls - SE 3 coached by Ricardo Almanza and Andrew Newman

The U12 Girls team, the Blue Bacteria, won their division at the Section Tournament and will move on to the Cal Cup for the state championship in March.

Uniform Donations

If you have uniforms, shoes, shin guards, or referee gear you would like to donate there will be drop off boxes at Nugget Fields on Saturday January 9th which is the first day of the Select Season. They will be located by the lockboxes and dumpster from 9 am until the end of the last game. In case of rain the date will be moved to the next Saturday.

If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas about the fall season or would like to be contacted by phone please email: commissioner@davisayso.net
