eAYSO (electronic-American Youth
Soccer Organization) has integrated all AYSO data into one web-based
application.
Instead of many programs for
each category, AYSO now has a single software program that everyone
can use.
By using eAYSO, parents, players,
volunteers, and staff will anytime and anywhere be able to update
their information as it changes.
For more information on eAYSO
please see AYSO National's website.

| This
is our primary season, with over 2000 players ranging
in divisions from U5 through U16/19. Registration
for the Fall season usually occurs during during the Spring in April
/ May. To have guaranteed team placement, you should plan to register
early, typically before the summer, otherwise your child could be
placed on a waiting list.
Take
a look at the U5
Program page for more information.
Practices
usually start in mid-late August. Games usually start just after
Labor Day weekend, and continue on through about the second week
in November. Some teams will participate in an Area tournament on
the weekend before Thanksgiving.
All
games are held on Saturday, with the majority of the games being
held in Davis. In some age groups there may be games in Winters,
Woodland, Rio Linda, Madison or Antelope (Sacramento).
Each
player intending on playing in any of the Davis AYSO seasons (Fall
or Spring) needs to register online through http://www.eayso.org
. After online registration occurs, a signed, hard copy registration
form needs to be received by our Registrar along with the appropriate
registration fee in order to be placed on the active registration
list.
For
more detailed information on our Registration procedure and what
to submit as well as where to send it, please visit our Registration
page.

Answers to frequent questions (Also see FAQ page):
If you need more info, check there, or contact one of the
volunteers in charge of the area of your question. See www.davisayso.org/contacts.htm
for a listing of contact positions with their email addresses.
We don't have enough volunteer labor to triage phone messages
at this point in the season, so email is the only way to
reach someone with a question.
-
When will I get called? Coaches will receive
their rosters near 2nd and 3rd week in August, and will be calling players beginning during these
dates. Many coaches are still on vacation at that time, and
it's not uncommon to get calls much later. We have asked
all coaches to either call by end of the 3rd week in August, or to let their divisional
coordinator (DCA) know that they are still out of town,
in which case the DCA will contact the roster to put minds
at ease.
-
When will practices begin? It's up to the
coach. They may start the last week of August with a parent meeting
and one practice, or they may only have one parent meeting/practice
that week. If they are getting back from a trip, they may
start their practices after Labor Day.
-
What if the practice date and time is not convenient?
[Easy answer: become a coach next season!] It is very common
at the first team meeting for parents to have a discussion
either during the meeting, before, or after, in which they
indicate a need for transportation help. It is almost always
the case that arrangements can be made with parents of other
children on the team to get a child to or from a practice.
-
When is picture day? September 12th and
19th (Makeup date is October 3rd). It is up to
a coach to determine whether they have a significant number
of absences for a photo (like they themselves can't make
it, along with three other players for example) in which
case they will be given the contact info for the photography
company to arrange for another timeslot.
-
Any other changes? AYSO National's official
short-sided games have been adopted for U6, U10, and U12.
- U6
teams will play with a super-team of 8 players splitting
in to two 4-player teams. We are going to draw two side-by-side
fields, and each of the two 8-player teams meeting for
the game will play 3v3 (1 sub) for half the game, then
swap mini-teams, and play the rest of the game. Coaches
will be able to stand between the two fields. If you
have not seen 3v3, yet, you'll notice the greater opportunity
for ball touches, and the kids will figure out faster,
the need to think about moving into space around the
ball rather than the 12 player scrum you have seen in
the past
-
U8 will play 6v6 with no keepers.
-
U10 will play 7v7 with keepers.
-
U12 will play 9v9 with keepers.
-
U10 will again have a jamboree day near the end
of the season, in which several mini-games are played.
-
U12 will have a jamboree day on a different weekend
near the end of the season, in which several mini-games
are played.
Fall Pre-Registration: To pre-register, please
go to www.eayso.org.
Specific details on our registration process can be found
on our Registration
page.
The Fall 2009 registration fees, when available will be posted here.
The Registration fees for Fall are $155 per child. However, if you postmark your registration
by June 6, you will receive our early-bird
discounted rate of $140 per child. For U5 division, the fee is $50.
Davis
AYSO has finally been able to comply with National AYSO
guidelines in implementing games involving fewer players
on the field, see: Short-sided
games are here!! (pdf)
The
fees for Davis AYSO are being raised this fall after not
having had a fee increase for several years. Here are some
of the major reasons the board agreed to a fee increase:
- Transition
costs from the upcoming loss of Nugget Fields to preparing
soccer quality fields at
Harper Jr. High School.
- Increased
city fees for using city fields on game days.
- Need
to further build up the field development fund for the
Sports Park that is in the
planning stages in East Davis. This facility will allow
us to have a stable platform from which to run
our volunteer program.
The
AYSO board does not want our participants to have to fundraise
or have mandatory raffle sales to
supplement our program budget. We offer full and partial
scholarships to those families that fall
below fifty percent median family income levels as determined
by HUD. The
board feels that AYSO provides a healthy, nurturing environment
for your child. The fall season runs for ten weeks. The
board strongly believes that each family is getting a great
value for the registration fee.

Important Dates
Please
see the following dates for important information:
- June 30 - Registration forms received from this date
on will be placed on a Waiting List for the player's age division,
and then placed only as openings become available. Incoming
forms are date stamped and then placed in priority of receipt
date.
- August 29th - First fall season game.
- September 12th and 19th (Makeup date is October 10th). - Picture days for 2009. Please keep in mind we do everything we can to make sure each team can make their assignment date and time. If there is a religious conflict with this date please let your coach know and they can work with us to reschedule the date and time.
For
Refund cut-off dates and procedures, please see our Registration
page under Refund
Policy.
Reasons for not hearing from a coach immediately could be a
result of the coach(es) being on vacation, OR, we are lacking
coach volunteers for your child's division, resulting in a "coachless"
team, whereby we would need a parent volunteer from that team
to step up and become a coach. If the last scenario was to happen,
each parent would be notified by the DCA of this situation.

Volunteer
to Coach or Referee

To
volunteer as a Coach or Referee,
please be sure to contact the appropriate AYSO staff so they can
be sure to add you and your contact information to their list. Also,
as a requirement, a Volunteer Application Form must be submitted
each year if you plan to participate as an AYSO volunteer. Please
visit the Coaches
and Referees
pages for more specific information and upcoming clinics. Because of the smaller-sided games format, we will need more coaches and referees than before. This season in particular, help us out by stepping up to fill these important positions. No experience needed ! We have a great training program.
To
register online using eAYSO.org, please
follow the Volunteer
Application Instructions found on our Volunteer
Main page.
If
you are interested in becoming a COACH,
please
contact either the BOYS RCA or
GIRLS RCA with
your contact information, such as: name, phone number(s), email
address, and division you are interested in coaching, either as
a Head Coach or an Assistant Coach.
If
you are intrested in becoming a REFEREE,
please
contact the Referee Administrator, with
your contact information, such as: name, phone number(s), email
address, and what level of refereeing you are interested in; Parent
Referee (U6 / U8, or Basic/Intermediate/Advanced Referee levels).
*
NOTE: All Volunteer Applications filed with AYSO are good for one
year.
We
anticipate 2200+ kids playing this Fall, with teams being formed
as early as mid-June so we can start our Coaching Clinics. Please
be sure to check the Coach
Clinics page for the schedules to be posted when available.
Please
volunteer to be a coach or referee!
Look at the Referee's
Call page for a list of excuses!

Area
/ Location Map (used in Team formations)
In using
one of AYSO's philosophy's, "Balanced Teams", we first
need to divide the City of Davis into locations, i.e. N, S, E &
W (see map below for reference). Then within each of those locations,
we run our team balancing program which sorts each of the player's
first by age, then by their rating, resulting in equally competitive
teams within the same location.
The
location boundries have been slightly modified to help evenly distribute
the number of players among the four areas shown below. Unfortunately
these location boundries may not agree with current school boundries.
However, this is the only way we can evenly distribute the number
of players fairly.

Game Stats for
Newspaper Reporting
For
U08 games and above, the Davis Enterprise will run scores in Thursday's
Youth Sports roundup. For Fall AYSO, they don't want narrative such
as; "Bob took a long high pass from Bill, and bicycle-kicked
the ball past the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper".
Instead, they want very short key items.
Please
use the following template and email it to sports@davisenterprise.net.
They will recognize team names if both teams submit a game report
and the will merge the information. You don't need to coordinate
with another team on this. The Enterprise prints results by division
and gender. It would look like this...
Subject should read (showing example division, gender, names,
scores, etc.)
Youth
Sports: AYSO Boys - U10 Division
Leopards
3, Tigers 2
Identify each stat with the initial of the team in paranthesis
( ). Body
of email should read (if you are reporting a score for the Tigers):
Goals
(T): Jenkins, Espinosa; Assists (T): Smith; Oustanding Defense
(T): Ho, Goin, Jones
