Info on the New U5 Program!

The U5 program is new to Davis and to AYSO nation-wide this year and we are excited about the program.

The program is "jamboree style" - meaning that the kids gather in a group and run through a series of fun games to help them learn the skills they need for soccer and the basics of the game. Then the group will be divided
up into small teams for a short "game" with two parents for each game helping them and providing plenty of
encouragement.

This will happen once a week, on a few given days (see below schedule for days and times).

When you sign up, you should try to indicate on your child's form, your 1st choice for the time (morning or evening). Since this is new for us this year, we'll see how it works out, and potentially make some adjustments on which days we will hold the program. We'll set up one day for every 24 kids we get, so that we can have some 3 vs. 3 games during the jamboree.

The focus will be on having alot of fun and lots of touches on the ball.

Fall Season 2008U5 Information:

National AYSO bases the entire 2008 season on the child's age as of the prior July 31st.

Just to reiterate - this is for kids who are 4 years old by August 1, 2008 (birthdate between 8/1/03 thru 7/31/04); exception: 3 year olds can play if they turn 4 by the first practice or game, see registration note below) and who were NOT enrolled in kindergarten for Fall 2008. The following year when they start kindergarten, they should be able to handle a little more structure with practices and being on a Under 6 team.

For more information, please contact the U5 Divisional Coach Administrator (DCA) at or call our main AYSO phone line at (530) 979-1344.

For information on registering, go to the Fall Season page and follow the instructions for pre-registering your child. eAYSO has not yet synchronized with the new ruling (3 year olds can play if they turn 4 by the first practice or game), so in order to get your child pre-registered if they turn 4 in August or early September, set their birth date to 7/31/04 in eAYSO, and note this in the "notes" section of your registration screen.

The U5 Registration Fee is $50 per player.

U5 Weekly Jamboree Schedule (Fall 08)

In order for your child to play, they must have the following:

  • Shin guards, with soccer socks covering them
  • a Medical Release Form (found here)

    Soccer cleats are optional

Please bring a completed form to the first practice. AYSO requires these and the shin guards and socks; your child cannot play without them.

A water bottle to accompany your child is also recommended.
