Davis World Cup Weekend Recap

DAVIS WORLD CUP RECAP

This past weekend Davis AYSO hosted the 2024 Davis World Cup. All 13 Davis AYSO Alliance teams (formed at the end of our Fall recreational soccer season in November 2023) participated in this unique tournament. Teams represent a FIFA country all weekend long in a minimum of 4 games. All players leave with pins and stickers and some earn good sportsmanship ribbons or keeper wars champion shirts to take home as well.

In total this year there were
- 229 games staffed entirely by our awesome volunteer referee community
- 3 locations across Davis supported by field marshals
- 92 teams with an estimated 1500 spectators attending
- 916 goals scored
- 458 good sportsmanship ribbons awarded
- and countless amount of volunteer hours to make it all happen.

It was a perfect weather weekend filled with smiles and soccer. As one attended put it "It was a wonderfully memorable experience! It's what youth sports events are supposed to be like!"

U14 Girls (Flight 2): EGYPT Burlingame United
U14 Girls (Flight 2): URUGUAY - 282 AYSO
U14 Boys: CANADA Mountain Lions
U16-19 Girls: MALAYSIA R45 U16
U16-19 Boys : FAROE ISLANDS MV All Stars

1st-4th place medals are handed out in most divisions.
